Moving from ESA to JSA

It seems I would get benefits faster as my ESA has been stopped to just claim JSA, but as I am waiting for a Hospital appointment for a foot condition will JSA take this into account with what jobs I can apply for? or do they expect you to be fully fit to claim JSA?

You have to be able to seek fulltime (>16h) work.
You can appeal your ESA decision (as long as you did not miss your medical), supply a medical note, and payment will resume very shortly.
    (Assuming you are eligible)
If your only problem is a foot problem, it is questionable if you will ever get ESA at appeal, if you can reasonably use a wheelchair.
It is possible the appeal may be closed before it gets to a tribunal.

I also have depression but as I have missed the medical it seems I'm lost in the system, I get told to claim JSA by one person then another says I can't if not fit to work!

looks like the only option is to wait for the medical appointment and hope |I pass.
  • Jobcentre staff should not say you are unfit for work (but they do). If you did not attend the medical and have been disallowed as a result, you will not get paid on appeal (assuming the reconsideraiton of the decision goes against you). If you have a new or worsening condition (depression or your foot problem?) you maybe able to make a new claim for ESA (this does not affect the appeal) but you would need to have medical evidence to show this, or it's another assessment before paying.
