Cavity wall insulation on a house built in 1988

Hi there, quick question.

Our house was built in 1988, consisting of a cavity wall construction with a brick outer layer and concrete/breeze block inner layer. We had a 'surveyer' come out last week to see if we qualified for free insulation, we do. He was here for about an hour and drilled inspection holes in the 3 walls to be filled (north, sorth and west facing). We're in the midlands, south Derbyshire, so I wouldn't class us as highly exposed to strong winds and rain. To be honest when it rains heavily here it's normally not windy at all.

Now, my parents have a very similar house, built a few years later, and they have cavity insulation done 3-4yrs ago with no problems at all.

My question is, does it sound like me house should be perfectly fine to get the treatment?

Regards.

Our house was built in 1993 and we have had cavity wall insulation fitted in all walls.

I asked the same question at the time as my brother who is a one of those energy assessors suggested it should have been done.

I believe the regulations did change around that period (late eighties, early nineties) but I was told it depended on when they actually got there planning permission.

Why are you only having three walls done?

  • The house is a semi, hence the 3 walls.

Surveyor said it's good to go, but obviously they subcontract from Tesco so I'm sure they'd be more inclined to say yes than if it was a private sale.

    Hiya.

Based on your location there should be no problems. CWI affected properties are mainly in Scotland
