Electricity Consumption Targets

Hiya,

Does anyone know if the govt/electricity suppliers, etc, have targets for the number of kWh the averge home should be consuming per day/week/month/year?

Cheers,

Rich

Not to my knowledge. Utilities have to spend a certain % of their turnover on promoting energy efficiency and buy a minimum amount of electricity from renewable sources. They also take part in the emissions trading scheme. The government has targets for carbon emissions.

Not certain what you mean by targets.

The average house is supposed to use 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity.

Presumably that figure is arrived at by dividing the total gas consumption and dividing it by the number of domestic properties. So consumption would range from a few hundred kWh for someone who only cooks by gas, or a small bedsit, to 100,000+ kWh in a really large house with heated swimming pool.
