whats wrong with ikea kitchens? dont they have a 25 year guarantee?
I know theyre a nightmare to fit, but the quality?

take the guarantee with a pinch of salt.
most guarentes are against manufacturing defult. eg there will be no issue hence the guarentee, always read the small print as many of these over length guarantees are just a bum on seat operation to get you through the door.
Thing is with Ikea that has be mentioned many times on this forum, as soon as you do anything to there carcass other than
'just build the box' your guarantee is void.
so you cant cut them down for service holes, shave the carcass or anything.
also most there doors are foil or overpainted foil

I kept my old Creda oven and bought a Bosch integrated dishwasher so I never got to try the Howdens appliances.

I bought my house with a Howdens trade kitchen, put in by an excellent Joiner! It's coming up 10 year old, but my estate agent thought we just had it fitted! we 're selling up!
all I changed was the tap bought a new modern one of ebay, looks like an expensive tap in 15k kitchen( we have fake granite top too)

my partner ( in property renovation) and Son in Law ( who is a joiner) always fit Howdens kitchens cause their good quality and pre assembled!
I can recommend it, but please do check out the joiner that fits it !!
Ikea are also very good quality but look cheap (sorry Ikea)

Thank you. I'll also look at my local electrical store for the appliances :)

I considered Howdens but not their Lamona appliances because I found a lot of very negative reviews. Do you have a Euronics shop near you? I have ordered most of my new appliances there and they gave me a small discount on the oven, hob and washing machine which I had planned to get from JL. They have also been pretty helpful re. delivery so far (expected this week)
  • I had to replace my dishwasher (integrated) I found Appliances online very helpful and competetive and would order again :)

We are also having our kitchen replaced soon and got quotes from Howdens, Wren and Ikea. The thing we are not happy about with Howdens is how narrow the wall units are, they only have 27.2 cm (a normal plate might not fit), Ikea for example has 33 cm.

Wren are quite wider (not sure how much exacly, can't remember now..), but the reviews on this forum and others are scary!

We want to get a quote from Wickes too, but one of the reasons we are changing the kitchen is beause our units are 26 cm (very narrow) and we really dislike this. Getting just 1.2 cm more does not seem very good...

Wickes/Benchmarx wall units are 307mm deep, so inbetween Howdens and Ikea.

Wickes are 28 cm deep, 307 is the whole unit (I guess there's some space wasted behind, or maybe includes the door?), but not the real space inside the cupboard.

Ikea is 34 cm inside the cupboard.

if you look at independants there are many that can have units made to any depth, so you can chose the depth of your wall units
