I cant compare tariffs!!!???

Hi Guys

I'm with Scottish Power on the capped energy deal ending Aug 2102 (dual fuel). SP have 'told' me which is appareantly the best deal for me. Phoned them to double check - but I'm somewhat NOT convinced the guy was giving acurate info.

I've tried three comparison sites to see which is the best out there and my current tariff is not available to do a proper comparison. How the heck can they tell me how much money I'll save if the dont list the starting tariff???

I've not changed energy suppliers in five years as it always confuses me and I've come to the conclusion (righly or wrongly) that like the banks they are all as bad as each other.

All I want is a reliable comparison to ensure what deal is best. All I hear is how many people have switched and it's ended up costing them more.

Is there anyone out there who can give a helping hand / advice??

Many thanks (rant over - feel better for talking to you guys :) )

Run comparisons based on your meter readings for the last year, and just pick a tariff with your current supplier. Don't pay attention to the estimated savings as they'll be based on the tariff you selected. The listing otherwise of what you'll pay over the coming year should be OK.

Not sure which comparison site you are using, its on Energyhelpline as I did a comparison for my mum who is also on that tariff.

ETA: Also on Uswitch, Energylinx and UKpower
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
