  • With regards to your fridge freezer, there is a site called Preloved, which if you put your area postcode in, you will be faced with adverts from your area.

I can see what you're doing with your accounts. I have three accounts. One for household bills, which is a joint account and my husband has his own current account and I have mine. His pension is paid into his account and my earnings are into mine and then we transfer what we need to the bill account and anything surplus, from our individual accounts we place into a savings account. It is very rare there is much left, but we also both put a pound each into our large bottle every day, change or otherwise, and that usually pays for Christmas. We have some debt from my husband's first marriage, which we manage ourselves and we pay the minimum amount each month, that they are willing to accept. As we are not too concerned about some rather old debts, they will take a few years, but the minimal payment each month is workable and gives us the freedom to live without feeling the pinch too much.

I know about the sense of achievement, I have been in debt and not faced up to it, now I have learned my lesson and learned it well, never again. We have one credit card between us.
  • I've just closed accounts with another bank and now have it all in one place

You should really keep an emergency pot outside of Lloyds Banking Group, in case they go the way of NatWest like a few months back where some people were unable to get at their money straight away due to computer issues.
