I have a problem with the new house that we have moved to. Most online systems (e.g. online shopping websites, local council, utility companies, etc) cannot find my address.
I understand the problem is to do with the fact that my house used to be a shop that was then converted to a bungalow around three to five years ago.
I am led to believe that my brother had the property registered, whatever that means. But still, is there anyway of getting around this problem. Its really difficult - every site so far that I have used for deliveries has failed, such as:
Tesco, Ebuyer, ASDA, Argos, Sainsburys, B&Q, Homebase, etc.
Companies that you have to speak with so far aren't so bad as at least they can manually edit the address on their system (e.g. sky, npower, t-mobile, water company, etc).

We had this with our new build house, no sat nav could find it and a lot of places rejected our post code. I think most of the time either we called them after ordering something, quoting the order number and giving directions, or they called us. I think it just takes time for the system to update. I think it took about 2 years for EVERY system to find us.0

Ours is the same, was an old Victorian house which has now been converted into flats, we've been there 2.5 years and only know do Asda etc etc know where we are !'' Our property was built in the late 70's on a small development of 2 cul-de-sac's. We are in the second cul-de-sac which, unlike the first, does not seem to appear on sat nav's and as a result delivery drivers often ring me as they can't find us. There are only 8 properties in our little close and it seems it is not worth updating as far as the sat nav companies are concerned. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Same here we are 30b for council tax and electric+gas but for everything else we are 30a / 30a 2nd floor flat as 30b doesn't appear on royal mails database.
Is a problem sometimes with deliveries as they can't find us, most will phone to ask directions though.0 -
The Royal Mail's postcode database is called the Postal Address Finder. You can ask them to add an entry for your house (see question 10 here: http://www.royalmail.com/your-questions-answered#10). This will make your address appear in mail order companies' address lists, but only when they receive their next database update from the Royal Mail. Not all companies pay for regular updates to the database, so it might take a while for the change to take effect.
I don't know if this will help with the sat nav problem.0 -
pain in the backside isn't it, hey at least us stops us ordering takeaways as we just can't be bothered spending 20 minutes on the phone directing them to just for the food to be cold when it arrives !!!!!!!''
