Lloyds TSB - Your phone numbers have been updated (err no they have not!!!)

I got a strange message on logging into my LTSB internet banking this morning.

Apparently I recently updated my phone numbers. I have not done that though so I called the number displayed on my internet banking message page to inform them of this.

They took me through security based on data held on my credit files (Multiple guess questions). Which I found unusual. Then I was told that my numbers have NOT been changed.

What's that all about?

Not the case, no numbers have been changed.

Edit: This was in reply to a post, which has since been deleted ?!?

Never had a message saying my numbers have been changed, but I have seen that my numbers have disappeared and been told that I don't have any numbers set up and I need to ring up and pass security to setup a new payment.

Something seems to be going on then, because after I'd logged on to transfer some funds out of this account (it's now just used as a linked account for another savings account I have elsewhere), I was sent an email confirming my request to change to paperless statements. I had certainly not made any such request by accident or on purpose, so I logged on and found that I was now on paperless statements, so I changed it straight back again. Don't know why this would have happened, but I do know that I had not requested it.

Lloyds TSB dont give out contact emails because they say its a security risk.
I call it protectionism for their benefit.
If you have a credit agreement make payments to the bank in cash directly. They dont like it haha.

Have you recently taken out an account with Halifax or Bank of Scotland?

The only reason I ask is that they use the same systems as Lloyds (all part of Lloyds Banking Group) and they affect each other when you take out accounts.

I've been with Lloyds for 10yrs+ and use IB all the time. I recently opened another Reward account with Halifax though and the Lloyds IB wouldn't then allow me to send payments between external accounts - I had to call them to do it. The error given was I had recently changed phone numbers - I hadn't but due to the new Halifax account the system thought I had.

Separate banking licenses maybe but the accounts don't seem to operate as independently as they should. Did get some redress from them over it though.

Yes indeed, though Halifax and Lloyds TSB are supposed to be using platform independent versions of the same software. A bit like 2 people running multiple versions of Outlook but one can only see emails that belong to you.
