Are you atarting a DMP in Aug / Sept ????

Are you starting a DMP in August or September?????

Just thinking wht don't we have a thread to discuss where we are our plans, support each other as we're roughly be at the same stages.

I know a lot of us have our our personal diaries, (me included), but i thought as i'm starting going through the motions, did my budget on CCCS, next step, change back accounts, then drop the bombshells............

That we could use one thread for support, updates, etc

This is where I am, lightbulb moments that came and went, when it finally stayed on last yr, I started a self managed DMP, 12 months later, my payments see to have changed drastically, as what i paid, some companies moved the arrears from arrears back to the balance and then said ok you can use the card, and they've slapped the interest on.

So last night, I did a budget on CCCS.

    My next steps

    August

    1 - Change Bank accounts
2 - See how go about getting money paid in,
3 Pay a small amount off the payments, what I can afford not what they ask for
4 Get paperwork from CCCS website
    5 Get letters printed

    September
    1. Send all Statements from Aug to CCCS (if can do earlier brilliant
    2. Hope we get somewhere.

Thats me, any help, advice, suggestions, would be appricated, xx

Hi Mum2one, I'm not starting a dmp but am considering it, so hope you don't mind me posting on your thread. I have done the budget thingy and it says I'll have £170 spare, does this got to the creditors or to me for food etc? I'm a bit scared to do a dmp, for several reasons but won't hijack your thread! I wish you all the best and am very interested to see how you get on, looking forward to reading future posts.

The first payment for our DMP goes out on the 1st September. We are with CCCS as well. We didn't change our bank account as we don't have any debts with our bank and its a basic account anyway. We have a budget on a spreadsheet that I maintain daily though and also try the challenges such as Grocery challenge to try and keep spending low.

hi Loobeyloop, dont be daft ur not hijacking the thread, opened it so its a free for all as they say,
If you have done the budget there should be a section for food, so tecgnically the £170 would be what u have for the creditors.

I'm the same as you bit scared to make the jump to an official DMP, (another reason y the open thread).

So come and join in and post away, xx

It was very easy hun, CCCS suggest amounts for you that they feel are suitable for grocery and clothing etc and so we used those.

Some people on here have said our grocery amount is too high but as I've pointed out we have a baby due at the very beginning of October and he's expected to come early we have no idea how many nappies we will need, if breastfeeding will take off or I will need to use formula, and whilst me and the OH will go without clothing we can't expect a baby to so the limits are a bit higher than we would have normally put but I thought it better to be higher than start on an amount too low and have to change it all a month in.

We did the Grocery challenge last month and we set ourselves a lower budget and tried to stick to it, we went over slightly but I've also managed to clear a few arrears with the extra money so I'm happy with it.

CCCS are good though I've rung a few times to ask questions about things and they are always happy to help. x

Ikkle, thank you so much, done all the booklet, and have kept everything in the guidelines of the household allowance, my glasses came out lower than what I need, have to have DD done twice a yr, if she doesn't fit kids glasses, £35 a time, then being diabetic, I have to eyes done every yr, which then usually means new glasses, but figured if I can save say on what has been allocated to another section, balance out the glasses.

    Congratulations on the baby, xx

Don't be scared hun, if you've done the Debt Remedy on the CCCS website it should have asked how much you spend on food etc. How much on busfares and so on. It will then tell you how much you have left to go to creditors each month.

In our case we had a lot of arrears on council tax, electric, water etc so these are priority debts so have been assigned extra by CCCS to clear them (although we've cleared most of them already this month) and then £50 a month to our creditors and when all the arrears are cleared extra money will go our creditors.

You can put higher amounts hun, it will come up saying its higher than their recommended amount click on live chat and explain to them it's because of Diabetes etc and they will put a note on your file and over ride the amount for you. Or if your just waiting on paperwork to come through ring them up and they can change it over the phone for you, that way you don't need to scrimp on another section x

Ikkle, I could hug you, thank you. It was just the glasses that came up for me, allowed £14 per mth (£168), worst case scenerio, £70 for DD, me mine £300 (need 2 prs, thats specsavers 2 4 1) £30 per month. But will def redo the budget and do live chat.

my car expenses high, even thou its under recommended allowance - but being disabled, I need the car for everything.

Thank you again, it sounds daft but if someone been through it, dont feel as bad asking a question.

My aim is by Friday to redo budget, - next week be getting all aug statements in, so can pay some this month then have some paperwork ready.

Sorry to bug you again, did you have much hassle from the creditors, - at mo mines gone back upto £450 pm, but budget says £250 pm available. x
