Washer Dryer error - repair and insure??

Hi
Washer/dryer machine - Electrolux AEG 16830
I have been getting the error code E10 on my drying cycle. The washing cycle works fine but when I put it onto drying the cycle seems like it is working, spins fine etc and heats up but it doesnt dry anything. I just end up with very warm wet laundry!
I've checked the filter and little hose thing but didnt get any results. I am imagining it may be the condenser maybe although I know absolutely nothing about washing machines!
Its 5or years old and seems to work fine other than this, altough it smells a bit rubbery at times - more so since this drying thing.
Anyway, I rang an Engineer who said £62 +VAT call out and labour, and then parts on top and that parts for these machines were expensive.
They also offered £177 for fixing it including parts, call out etc and that it would then be insured for 12 months after this.
If it broke again they woudl fix it for free and if it broke badly they woudl replace it.
What should I do? How much do these parts cost and considering the age am I best to now just take the insurance option??
I know nothing about washing machines and dont know anyone that does so trying to fix it on my own isnt an option unfortunately - I can barely move the thing! lol
Anyway, thanks for any replies. I hope you can help in some way

A quick Google indicates that the error code indicates a kinked or squashed water inlet hose, but that doesn't seem to match your symptoms (that it won't drain out).
What does the manual say that the error code E10 indicates?

Howver, the first thing to always check if the machine won't drain out is for a blockage in the pump impeller. This is usually accessed through the hatch on the front at the base-a quick and easy user check-and you don't haver to move anything. The manual should give you full info.
Also check that the drain hose is not blocked or kinked.
Most white goods engineers should be charging around £40 for a call out and diagnosis, yours is very expensive. No free lunch, and no free laptop

They usually use mains water to cool the condenser ... so the error message may indicate the lack of water flow through the condenser.0
