need cc for years travel

Yep, I usually travel with several but would feel uncomfortable with fewer than 3. On a long trip, cards expiring whilst away can be an issue. I've never been able to persuade a CC to issue a new card in advance.0

If you report cc lost then you'll get a new one issued and it'll have a new 'extended' expiry date. A bit of a faff and takes time to come through of course but works.0 -

My experience is that replacement cards always have the same expiry date as the "lost" card.0 -
OP do you or your husband/wife already have a credit card? If so, have you thought about obtaining a second card for your son to use (in emergencies only of course
)
If not, and your son has difficulty in obtaining his own, you could apply for one of those with commission free foreign purchases (Halifax Clarity, Nationwide Select, Post Office, Saga Platinum etc) with him as second card holder. (I haven't checked the T&C for all the above
but many CC providers allow 2nd cardholders) 0 -
Have a look at the Aqua Reward Card: http://www.aquacard.co.uk/credit-cards/reward-card
No FX fees, although will probably get a very small limit which may reduce its usefulness as an emergency card.0
