'where do you get your stuff'

It's been nearly a year since the last similar email, but I've just had

' I really like the xxx your selling as I have sold them as well and as a SAHM I need the cash. You are selling yours less than mine cost me new so cheeky i know, but can you tell me where to get them please as it isnt fair really as you are undercutting me and i need the cash ty'

Hmm, probably best to block and ignore, although I am soooo tempted to point out that she appears to have forgotten to register as a business. Oh, and her stars are none too good either.

That really ties in nicely with the email I got last week entitled 'this seller wishes to show you their item' (a real ebay facility incidentally). 'I can sell you xxxx at $8 and if you contact i can do better deal for bulk- maybe $7.75?

All very well but I am selling them cheaper than their 'wholesale' price as is obvious from my listing and am buying them an awful lot cheaper.

Incidentaly the two items above are not the same, otherwise I would have been tempted to point the seller in the direction of the SAHM.

I don't know why people think they sellers are just going to hand over contact details for their stockist or wholesaler. I used to get asked quite a lot, at least once a month, but it has really stopped now. Some were quite bolshy- (which is why I never respond) and get het up if I won't give them details- even if I am really polite about it.

I also used to get people ask me to drop ship my items for them , I ignore those as well.

I like the people that come on to here asking for a business idea.

'Hello, I dont want to have to do my research. Can I steal your idea?'

I think they think it is a matter of finding someone selling something for 50p to sell themselves at a pound.

I'm considering options at the moment and am selling off a lot of items - books mainly for the moment - to build up a bit of capital. I have a potential funding gap next year and need to see whether it is viable to sell as a business before I actually start doing so. It is adding up a bit at the moment - Amazon seems a bit more buoyant than eBay and their fee structure is better for ordinary books, but the sort of stuff I'd be selling in general is only suitable to be sold on a specialist site and on eBay.

If there's anyone reading this thread for inspiration, the best advice I'd give is sell something you have a keen interest in - sports, hobbies, fashion etc. Don't just go down Poundland and buy up a load of eclectic rubbish - that only works on The Apprentice.

I got a message asking which postage system I use as my prices are so cheap. Soon shut up when I told them I ship everything by royal mail and make a loss.

Well personally I think it's extremely unreasonable of you all to insist on doing your research and making a profit at the expense of those who'd like it handed to them on a plate. I shall be reporting you all to ebay forthwith.

Some people are so cheeky. I don't sell on ebay (well only for personal bits and pieces anyway) but would never be so cheeky as to ask where buyers get their gear. I have been tempted to ask some of you what you sell though, just because I'm nosey like that. :p
