Moving from ESA to JSA is this possible?

Hello
10 weeks ago my husband resigned from a job he had been in for 24 years down to a variety of reasons. He went to the Dr the week after this and was diagnosed with mild depression and was recommended to abstain from looking for work until his head was in the right place.
In the mean time he has been claiming Contribution based ESA which is still in the assessment phase.
He has decided that this week he is going to ask the Dr for fit for work note as he feels ready to look for work. My question is will he be entitled to contribution based JSA after claiming ESA?
Many thanks for your help in anticipation. (I earn too much for him to get income based benefits)

Yes if he has paid enough contributions, there should be no problem moving from ESA conts to JSA conts, the claims will link,
he can claim JSA conts for 26 weeks usually and ESA conts for 52 weeks if placed in the wrag group longer if placed in the support group,
but his claim for JSA may be shortened as he has beenon ESA , but I am no expert on the rules, but JSA and ESA entilement combined may cease at 26 weeks if he goes onto JSA... so may have 16 weeks entitlement to JSA.
But am sure someone will have more knowledge0
