Why can't the garage door be opened from the outside?

There will be ways to sort that out, some without changing the outside if that is an issue.

Is it up and over, roller, doors?

The main gates are still an issue does the gate lock when closed or do you have to lock it each time, a self locking latch might help less effort.

Another angle might be some CCTV to act as a further deterant

If you only have your bike in your garage would the other biker be interested in a share andsorting out the external acess, if this would make it easier for them since they have a car as well.
  • I would like to thank all who have made positive comments and suggestions. You have helped me to look at this much more logically and coolly. I think the reason it has got to this point is that I have become so firmly entrenched after 18 years of him irritating the family in various ways. However he ain't never going to budge, so yes I do have to just find a way to ensure our own security and let him get on with whatever he wants to do. I have been discussing this with our mother today, she read the thread, and we worked out that with some not too drastic building work and changing of various locks we can come up with a work-around. It will cost quite a bit of money obviously, and I do feel a bit put out by that, but in the interests of a quiet life and less stress all round we are just going to do what needs to be done.

By the way I would just like to point out that I am not a noisy hooligan by nature, I have a self-imposed curfew and never go out on the bike after early evening, and it is my normal routine to push the machine well away from the house before starting up, as I have always done at previous addresses.
