Anyone able to offer an insight into this town in suffolk please?
My friend is possibly re-locating to Haverhill and I said I can get some feedback (hopefully) to give him and idea what Haverhill has to offer, any info on Primary schools and best areas to live within the town?
Any info I would be very grateful

Haverhill was a London overspill town.
I would avoid, if at all possible the town itself. There are some much nicer villages in the surrounding area. Haverhill also does not have very good road links.
Quite a few social problems, the town does not have a good reputation locally. Cambridgeshire has wanted Newmarket (in Suffolk) for years (if you look at the map you will see why) http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.itraveluk.co.uk/maps/england/county/cambridgeshire-map.png&imgrefurl=http://www.itraveluk.co.uk/maps/england/cambridgeshire/&h=600&w=600&sz=86&tbnid=nT2cye1vSeKkeM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__oiqO744yXkpxDWy3InVgN0cmhao=&docid=6CKDzNcBn6ciSM&sa=X&ei=zNwfUP_YLuaJ0AW60oHADQ&ved=0CJABEPUBMAs&dur=350 but they would also have to have Haverhill, which is not so popular!
IMO Bury St Edmunds is much nicer but of course it will depend on how far your friend has to travel. Property is cheaper out Haverhill way than it is Bury or Cambridge. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

It's a dump relative to the rest of the area, but most of the villages around there are lovely.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!

Oh, not the best sounding area, I will suggest maybe outside the town then...
Thanks for the feedback!0 -
I agree with the posts above, it's a bit of a dump and Bury St Eds, Newmarket, Sudbury or Saffron Waldon (in Essex) are much nicer.0
