graphics problem

Options
I've recently tried to download updates for my ATI ragepro turbo driver. However, after updating, I couldn't get my championship manager 2 game to work. the graphics went haywire.
I clicked on the ATI icon and it said to uninstall the update, just use the control panel remove programme window.
This is what I did, but now its totally b**ge**ed up my graphics. I'm not sure if its starting up in safe mode (it doesn't say it is) but the graphics and colours are crap and unuseable. Pictures are almost impossible to make out.

Is there any way I can reinstall the driver.
I still have the ATI mach64 display driver listed as installed. Maybe I should have uninstalled this instead???

when I run DXDIAG, the ATI rage pro turbo no longer shows up, I guess it removed the whole thing rather than the update.

As you may have noticed, I have no technical knowledge at all about computers! So basic help is what I'm after.

thanks for any help.

Download new ATI driver install file here.

    Install as follows:

There are two phases to the installation of a driver that has been downloaded from the ATI WEB site.

The first phase occurs when you run the wxp-j5-30-1-b02.exe program.

This phase creates a temporary directory on the system disk and unpacks all the individual files that make up the ATI software bundle.

In the second phase the ATI SETUP program is launched from the temporary directory created in the first phase. ATI SETUP installs the software (from the temporary directory) into the operating system.

    Steps

    a) You must download wxp-j5-30-1-b02.exe and save it to a directory on your systems hard disk.
For example C:\temp is a common directory used to initially save a file into.

    b) Once you have downloaded wxp-j5-30-1-b02.exe,
    Close all programs
Click the START button and select the RUN menu item.
    Click the BROWSE button.
Browse to the directory where wxp-j5-30-1-b02.exe was saved.
Select wxp-j5-30-1-b02.exe and click OK to run the program.
Follow the instructions on the screen.

! The individual files will be unpacked and placed into a directory on your hard disk. The default path for this directory is C:\ATI\wxp-j5-30-1-b02\

! After copying the files to the hard disk the INSTALLATION program will launch. You may choose to abort the INSTALL process at this point. (If you abort, no software will be installed into Windows.)

Manual Installation instructions after running wxp-j5-30-1-b02.exe
    Start Windows.
    Click the START button.
    Click the RUN menu item.
Click the BROWSE button. Browse to the directory where the files were unpacked after running wxp-j5-30-1-b02.exe. (The default directory is C:\ATI\wxp-j5-30-1-b02)
    Select SETUP.EXE and press OK.
Follow the instructions displayed in the help.

thanks for that. i'd already got halfway through that but didnt have a clue where to go next. The only problem now is that the actual screen display size has shrunk so its smaller than my monitor size and I've got a black border around my screen. ive tried adjusting the screen position and size but it doesnt seem to alter anything. But it doesn't bother me, I'm just happy to have my colour back!!!

Thanks for your very speedy and helpful reply.

    Try right-clicking on your desktop.

    Select 'Properties' then 'Settings'

On the Settings tab slide the Resolution slider fully right. That will be the maximum your monitor can support (ensure 'Hide Modes monitor cannot support' is enabled).

I've done that, but the black border remains, just my icons and open windows get smaller.
I've got and ATI icon on my sysyem tray, and it tells me to go to the same settings window as you mentioned, click advanced, then adjustments tab. this brings up a couple of screeen resizing icons. I use these (although it wont let me increase the height) but it never seems to save the settings I enter???
