Replacing mixer shower with thermostatic one

I am looking for advice about showers, please. At the moment there is one of these or these over my bath (sorry they look the same so I can't tell which is which). But I get scalded when other people in the house use taps or flush the loo, so I want to replace it with a thermostatic shower.

I am wondering if I can replace it myself. I can turn off and drain down the water system, and I can do basic things with spanners and pliers etc, but I'm not up to drilling holes in walls or welding pipework or that kind of thing. Do you think I could find a thermostatic shower that would fit onto the pipes I already have plumbed in to supply this one? Would it be a good idea to get one of the same brand - ie would that make it more likely that the pipe spacing would be correct? If so, does anybody know anything about Triton thermostatic showers and whether they're any good?

Thanks very much.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Have a look at this Triton retailer web site.

It lists a range of Triton showers with a clickable pdf of specifications.

Alternatively email Triton tech support for advice: Ask them for a list of thermostatic showers that will fit your existing plumbing.

Fitting a thermostatic shower needing different plumbing spacing probably isn't that difficult. A decent plumber could probably do it quickly at relatively low cost. You should attempt to choose a unit that will cover up all existing holes so you don't have any making good to do.

And whatever you do, if you don't have access to the rear from an adjoining room with a panel for that purpose, please ensure the shower can be fitted with front access only, as some can't.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Thanks both of you - very helpful. I've emailed Triton tech support as you suggest, and will see what they have to say. :)
