Tax credits how long until updated award? (NOT renewal)

Hi all hope you can help :)

I've already renewed tax credits, and had the new awards etc. However I have just reported a change in earnings (over 10k difference to last year) How long will it take for my new award?

I know theres not a solid answer but roughly :)

Thank you

I reported a change in hours recently and it only took a couple of weeks to show in my weekly payments.

Hi yes i had mine yesterday as well it should of been in today was yours the usual amount you get
  • I reported a change on monday and phoneed today, its been updated already.
  • Hey guys and gals! Will try answer all your queries in one

So, the early payments, this is more than likely related to the Bank Holiday in Scotland - some peoples payments can change on a Bank Holiday - even if you live in England!
It may also be, that if you have recently renewed, you have received a one off payment, before your new regular payments start - this is like a small "back payment" of any monies due from the previous year after confirming your income as part of your renewal declaration - sometimes some of this is spread out across the current tax year as well.

With regards to receivng a new award notice following a change, there is no set timescale, I would advise that if you havent received a new award notice after 3 weeks of making the change, then contact them. Sometimes the award notices take a bit longer to be sent out than the payment amounts changing...sit tight :)
  • Three weeks is the average turnaround. It can, and usually does, change sooner, but three weeks is the MAXIMUM time. Just keep checking your bank balance as well to get an indication.
