Did you ever pay any maintenance? Sounds to me like you cleared off to Germany, earnt yourself a pretty penny and never even considered paying maintenance towards your 2 children.
You also said in your original post that you were always working and they could have traced you through NI contributions etc, now you're saying you went to Germany and got paid cash in hand.
None of this rings true to me. I think you knew exactly what your responsibilities were, you just chose to ignore them and now it's caught up with you.0
