Hi
Can anyone suggest what kind of mattress should I be looking at memory foam or sprung?
I weigh 140lbs and currently find the mattress I have an Ikea sultan hasselback is too firm, I am turning at least once every half hour and wake with a stiff back. My partner weighs around 280lb he also wakes with aches and pains.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

I had a similar problem, and came across a bed manufacturer based in the UK. Get Laid Beds - They had a mattress called 'Early Bird Mattress' which comprises off pocket springs with a memory foam layer and I can safely say it's working a treat so far!
If you Google: Get Laid Beds early bird mattress you will find their website.
Hope that helps!0 -
I was in a similar position with an IKEA mattress - I bought quite a good one but my partner and I both found it uncomfortable after a few months. Eventually we treated ourselves to an expensive pocket mattress which had a memory foam layer built in. This was fantastic for a good while but we found that after about 9 months to a year it stopped returning to shape and there were always two long dents in the mattress where we slept. Even if one of us went away for a week or longer the mattress refused to come back to shape and eventually became quite annoying as we found ourselves sleeping on a very slight incline if we tried to sleep out of the dent!
I've just moved into a new house and will be treating myself to a new mattress - probably a pocket one again but this time with a separate memory foam topper so that I can replace it when it begins to 'give'                 :dance:I am finally understanding what money can do for me!0 -
I researched mattresses in our bed shop, picked one I liked then went on the web and bought it for half price. You should really go to a shop and try them out, not everyone likes firm or medium firm, pocket, coiled with or without memory foam layer, it's a very personal thing
