Mis-sold pet insurance?

Hi,
I own a cat that my mum has been looking after at her address for the past couple of years. I took out a pet insurance policy in July 2011 and told the insurance company (by telphone) when signing up that the cat lives at my mothers address. The policy was renewed a few weeks ago but today we were contacted by the insurance company informing us that the policy in not valid as the cat does not live at the policyholders address and that they would refund the payment for this month (1st paymnet on new policy). Luckily we havent needed to make a claim in the last year.
As it looks like the cover has never been valid due to the cat living at a different address and I mas mis-advised by the insurance company would I be entitled to a refund of the last years policy?

Sounds like they accepted you by mistake and have corrected it at first renewal (albeit a few weeks late).
As they had your correct info on file, I am sure they have been providing cover for the past year.0
