My son has just been awarded ESA from the 12th May 2012, does his fit note need to be backdated to that date?
the doctor has issued a note for the next 8 weeks but that won't cover that period.
thanks in advance for any advice.
He has not received any payment yet so i assume this is why?

Do you mean that he has started a claim for ESA?

If so then he needs a Fit Note covering him from the start date of his claim.
