Tips on getting £25 train fare London-Edinburgh on GNER

Hello All,

I am going to Edinburgh in August and I wanted to get the £25 fare from London-Edinburgh. I've tried doing a few trials runs, looking at the available fares three months in advance and the £25 fare never seems to be available!

Does anyone have any tips on when they become available (if not immediately when the fares for three months in advance become available)?

Is the site updated once a day and if so when (first thing in the morning?)?

Are there always £25 fares available or could I be holding out for the impossible? (To be fair, I am flexible on times and dates as well to a certain extent...)

I would like to know how to get this £25 London to Edinburgh fare too.....

Just checked out the journey planner HERE, journey from Lon-Edi, 1st August dep after 0900, return 3rd Aug dep 0930 and it shows availability at £15:70 each way on all trains from 0600 to 10-00 on those dates. Ok thats £31:40 return not £25 but still very cheap. Also try GNER for a possible 10% discount, just tried for those dates and £14 each way through their site.

You can only book these fares 12 weeks in advance and the 3rd is the furthest available today, also weekend travel can sometimes be disrupted by engineering work and this leads to late publication of the cheap fares, sometimes only 8 weeks before the travel date.
