Hi, I have managed to link my pc with my TV using a wireless adapter. If I listen to my music, look at my photos or home made videos ... will I be using a portion of my download limit?
(is this called 'streaming' ?)
Thanks

no, the streaming is over your LAN (local area network) no internet will be involved therefore no limits, and it is called streaming, as you are streaming content from your laptop to your TV over a network.
this is assuming you are streaming local content you actually have on your computer (such as a shared folder or via media player)0 -

Ohhhhh, wow ! It's so clever ! Like magic....
I have no idea how it works but I am delighted that it does...
Yes, going via media player...
Thanks for the reply, I can now enjoy to my hearts content..
Is there a way of speeding up the LAN?

under your set up,you are limited by the wireless speeds
why do you want more speed?
once you get used to networked media theres no going back0 -

It seemed to be taking a while for the photos to appear on the tv screen. I was guessing that something was slow. I tried to watch some videos too and they didn't 'run'. Maybe I just needed to wait a bit longer.

well it will be down to the slowest link in the chain
I could stream full HD video over wireless N,however it was at its limit and wasnt always reliable
Does your TV have to use wirelss,or does it have an ethernet port?
easiest way to test is run a direct cable connection and see the difference.
whats the TV/wirelss model? does it do wireless N?0 -
I'm presuming by the first post that you're using the TV as a media player, or do you physically have an adittional media player typed hardware set up, aka another "box"?
Either one may have limits regarding video on what they will actually play. Type/codec etc. TV's generally aren't the fastest software wise, which might be why it is slow, if the wireless is not affecting it. IF you can throw in a network cable to the TV, you could try and see if that increases speed.
Can you post either your TV model, if you're using that direct to play stuff, or whatever media player box you are using? Someone can have a look/read of the manual etc to see if you can only play certain formats of films, or if you have codec problems.0 -

TV Model :- Sony Bravia KDL-32EX403
Media Box :- TECHNIKA 8320HD SMARTBOX
I might try a network cable at some time but, at the moment I am delighted with what I have got.
thanks

To be absolutely sure, you could unplug your router from the phone line and confirm that it still works.0
