Housing Benefit Claim

Hi,
I'm moving into a property owned by a family member but I have checked that I can claim Housing Benefit and that's fine, it's not what I'm asking.
But my Grandparents live in the annexe which is basically a house on the side that shares the same address. They have their own front door etc and don't share any of our rooms.
As they don't technically live with me and my husband, do I have to declare them on my claim?

I would recommend you contact the council directly in writing to ask where you stand wrt this. One person may think one thing and the council may think another and you don't want to be caught out at a later date. I would set out in writing who owns the property, the type of tenancy you will have, and the conditions of your property and how the annexe is attached and await their response. Definitely better to have things in writing before the get go here imo."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0

Thank you PippaGirl, I am going to email then for confirmation but thought someone might know the answer on here.
I've had confirmation we can put a claim in but now I'm filling the paperwork out I've remembered about my grandparents, it's only that I think of them living in a seperate house as such that I didn't think to ask before.0
