Metro bank

I have a business account with Barclays. I have also had one with Natwest who i must say is the absolute trash of banks. I then moved to Coop who i say, was good and i never had an issue and spoke to british people and always had my call answerd in seconds rather than half hour intevals.
Anyway. i want to move my business account to Metro bank. I'm london based, company account, the deatils seem easy and straight forward.
Has anyone had good or bad experience with metro bank. I wish to move well away from the big banks and go for the smaller independent banks who i have been told have excellent service and look after their customers.

I have a personal current account with them. In general I've been happy with them, and it's nice to be able to call them and speak directly with someone. I liked the way they treated me when I went into the branch to open the account, and the fact that the opening hours are extensive.

    On the negative side:
    • when I first joined them they were very new, and the card was declined in a few places. I haven't had this problem recently though, so hopefully it's not an issue any more.
    • while I was abroad a few months ago I transferred £1000 from another account into my MB account which failed to appear in my MB account. They were pretty useless when it came to tracing the money, and only found that the money had been in their system all along when I tried to pressure them to talk directly to sending bank.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
  • Can't speak for their business accounts, but opened a Metrobank personal account (mainly for use of the debit card abroad) and haven't had any problems. Very helpful staff both in branch and on the phone.

I've also only had a personal account since around January of this year, I found that I did encounter some problems last month when used abroad in one retailer and the card didn't go through with either the chip or mag-stripe. I assume it's because they hadn't updated their BIN's but most other retailers seem to accept it without problems.
