sorry if i have posted this question in the wrong section.
Last week, my dad passed away, and as you could understand it is a very difficult time for us. my dad had some credit card debt, with few companies but the main one is llyods tsb with £15000.
now my question is this debt was on a credit card and i have been told by someone thart unsecure debt gets wiped off, however he ows his own house. so can llyods tsb turn around and say we want a charge on the house?
and how do i approach this credit card lenders
thanks in advance

The debt would usually need to be paid from his estate, if there isnt a sufficient amount then it would be written off.
Give them a call, most banks would have a specialist team that helps out in this sort of situation.0 -
Sorry for your loss.
Yes they can get their money back from his estate.
I would inform them of his death ASAP and ask them to freeze the total (so that interest does not accrue).0 -

I believe you can count it against IHT though.
Very best wishes. I had to be (joint) executor of mum's estate and it is really difficult - more emotionally than intellectually. Hope it goes well for you - sorry to hear about your dad.0 -
Two good leaflets that might help are:D49 - What to do after a death in England and Wales
Wills and Probate – Dealing with someone’s affairs when they die
I believe any debts must automatically be frozen as at the day of death, with no more interest and charges being applied.* Until you have all the details of your late dad’s finances, don’t start settling debts. The debts are not yours. If it genuinely takes months to sort everything out, the companies will just have to put up with that.
