Stainless steel handrails - will i get static shocks?

Random I know

Am thinknig of fitting the brushed steel handrails on the stairs, but dont want ot if i'm likely to get a static shock everytime i go upstairs

Is it possible this will happen? Is it dependant on type of carpet etc?

Taking an educated guess, no, you would be less likely to get them as they should earth into the wall ;);)

It's guarded reply as they may be lacquered, which in effect insulates them.

Being earthed into the wall means that they will be more likely to give shocks. Depending on carpet, OP may become charged up by charge separation without really noticing until he touches the earthed rail.

I was a little unsure on that, cheers :T But in either case you'd have to have dam damp walls to get shocked :D
