Advice needed

Hi
I am currently living on my own in aone bedroom flat, I am going to be attending college in the summer on a fulltime basis. I am wonder at the moment i am registered blind and currently work full time and was considering putting my hours down to say 20 a week but i am also thinking if i had to quit work say to ill health because of my blindness would i be better off getting my rent paid and elec and stuff and consentrating on college or would i earn more working please help meout here to b honest if it does work out best to leave work i would as i have worked for the last 10 years and think i have earned it let me know

Hi Andy,your benefit entitlement will depend on the level of the course you are doing.I assume you are doing non advanced education as opposed to degree level.
Having worked for the past 10 years and I assume having paid NI conts you would be entitled to Incap.
As regards getting your rent paid,it is worth checking with your local authority how much rent they pay for a single person in a 1 bed flat.All local authorities have a cap on what they will pay and the claimant has to pay any shortfall in rent so well worth checking out.
