OP, why do you particularly want control over Treble & Bass tone controls? If you need these, something is badly wrong elsewhere in the system. I haven't felt the need for, or used them, in years, except when someone brought along a really dire, bass- heavy recording that had been made from the audience at some heavy rock show.

Commercial material shouldn't need tampering with.

Sorry Lil306, but I don't think mouttou buy the Logitech for the living room, separates will be much better and more functional in the long run.
I don't see bass and treble knobs on the Onkyo, mostly because these AV amps have sophisticated software built in to customise the sound. This MAY include simple bass and treble adjustment.
I agree with Inside Insurance - building a system up with quality stuff (which you may already have) is great, you can learn what you need as you go, and gradually improve everything, which makes buying stuff less painful, but I'm assuming we're starting from scratch here.
Yes, I would go for that system, totalling £240, and here's a Pioneer Blu Ray player for £50 too:
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/blu-ray/pioneer/bdp140/pion-bdp140
leaving us £10 change still! Richer Sounds also have Samsung and Toshiba players for the same price too, and I'd be tempted to pick the one with the best remote or something, as I don't really see much difference between them, I'm sure they all have excellent CD playback.
Instead of a Blu Ray player though, consider a PS3. This'll play Blu Ray and do so much more. Maybe make do with the Goodmans DVD player until Christmas or something? Connect it to the amp with HDMI or digital optical and you'll get excellent surround sound.

The reason, i hoped to get a system which has bass and treble conrtols is because, i love in a small flat which does not have good sound proof...and wanted to minimise the bass sound as much as possible so as not to disturb my neighbour living upstairs...

Thanks. Please correct me if i am wrong...are these your suggestions:
    a) Pioneer speakers, S-HS100
    + ONKYO TXSR309
    + Blu Ray Pioneer BDP140

    or b ) Pioneer speakers, S-HS100
    + ONKYO TXSR309
    + my Goodmans DVD

on option b, will i be able to connect my goodmans to the AV receiver and this speaker system???

    or c ) Pioneer speakers, S-HS100
    + ONKYO TXSR309
    + ps3?

if the above is not available, can i combine,

Pioneer HTP071+ the pioneer blu ray???

also in all these options would i be able to stream wireless?? or do they hv an option where i can buy a cheap dongle??

    Or my and almillar's preference

    D) Onkyo TX-SR309
+ any DVD, Blu Ray or PS3
+ Full size speakers built up over time (eg Wharfdale Diamond 10.1 or 10.2)

a PS3 can do streaming and some Blu Ray's can too. Alternatively you can get an AppleTV that will stream from iTunes on any computer plus a host of web based things for £99

OK, so you've bought a system with a dedicated Bass speaker, a subwoofer, and you now want to take the bass away..... Why not just keep the whole system at low volume?

This is the old one Goodmans DVD Micro 1990 that i want to replace....the reason i want less Bass ( Not mandatory ) is because, the neighbour upstairs seems to be more affected by the Bass...

Yes - you've got a, b and c correct as your options, as well as option d that Inside Insurance has added.
Option b - I've no idea if you can connect, I don't know what connections the Goodmans has. Can you have a look at the back and let us know? You'll need an optical, or digital coaxial connector for the sound to the amp, and a SCART connection to go to the TV.
You've now added the specification that you want to stream wireless - wireless what? WiFi on a Blu Ray player will certainly cost extra, either built in, or with an expensive proprietary dongle - I'd rather just plug it into the network. Or buy the PS3 which has WiFi built in. If you're interested in streaming music, films etc, a PS3 would be the way to go as it does so much. It also plays games you know! You could get the older, fatter one for <£150 these days I'm sure.
Also, I'd rather use a nice set of headphones than mess about with the sound to try to make it quieter.

I thought the Logitech was seperates :/

NVM, it's still a system I like, but I'm not an A/V expert. I just like loud music so it's 5.1 works for me. Although I might get some earthquake subs next

Thanks almiller....Sorry to keep bothering....I think i will go for option a) which is
    a) Pioneer speakers, S-HS100
    + ONKYO TXSR309
    + Blu Ray Pioneer BDP140

but if the above is not available in store, csn i go with
Pioneer HTP071+ the pioneer blu ray?

Also i was looking at this system for 299, a blu ray home cinema..

    pioneer.eu/uk/products/42/100/42/BCS-222/specs.html
    it says
    • Plays ● BD-ROM / BD-R / BD-RE
      ● DVD-Video / DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD+R / DVD+RW
      ● AVCHD / AVCREC
      ● SACD
      ● CD / CD-R / CD-RW / DTS-CD

      ● PC File Playback from: DivX Plus HD, WMV, MKV, FLV, JPEG, FLAC, LPCM, MP3, WMA, MPEG-4 AAC
do u reckon this will be any good?

Also on both the above can i buy a dongle and stream?

    Thanks for alll your advice...
