Debit card payment not showing on statement almost 2 weeks later

I made a £400 payment to Co-op energy on 23rd July which is showing as received on my online energy statement and the current balance on the statement is as it should be considering the payment made. (although they have not issued a revised bill following updating meter readings on the same day)
However, this payment is not showing on my bank statement as yet (Santander) and neither has it been deducted from my 'available' balance as is usual with payments that are not yet on the statement.
I know I have made the payment so obviously I know to leave this amount in the bank to cover it, but is there any reason why it has not shown up yet?

Usually it would be because a retailer hasn't sent their transactions through to their merchant acquirer. That's not so likely in this case, so I'd say the options are 1) there's been a problem at Co-op which has caused a delay in processing payments, 2) Co-op have sent the payment but it's got lost somewhere on the way to Santander (not likely), 3) Santander have got the transaction but for some reason haven't applied it yet. As Santander are involved the fingure of suspicion might point in their direction.0
