£2000 to invest - but where?

Hi there,
I have no knowledge in investing however I am looking to invest £2000 which I won't need to touch in the short term. What type of investement is best in this case?

A few other q's:
1) Is it better to put more than this?
2) Is there a risk that I may lose all the £2000?
3) What other similar schemes are useful?
4) What kind of return will I get?

Thanks.

  • In a straight forward savings account you could hope to get about £120 gross per annum.
If it was in a cash ISA there would be no tax to pay.
If you want to gamble with it the gains or losses are variable.

I'm in the same boat, I think ISA is safest, or onlne share dealing. However that is risky and you'd need to read up alot and try and predict the market (not easy).
