Preloved query

My partner opened up a preloved account to sell our odds and ends. He validated his email address and posted some adverts.

He went to log on earlier today and this message popped up

By providing this information you agree that we may use it to conduct appropriate anti fraud checks. Personal information that you provide may be disclosed to a credit reference or fraud prevention agency, which may keep a record of that information. This is done only to confirm your identity, a credit check is not performed and your credit rating will be unaffected.

It wants him to enter all of his personal information in again, address, date of birth etc.

We are wary of the bit in bold, why would they need to to disclose details to a credit reference agency?
Has anyone else come across this before? All we wanted to do was sell our old sofa!

Goodness no, I haven't used preloved though so I don't know if that's normal or not

  • That must be a brand new innovation then, I have a Preloved (paid) account and was never asked for that at all.
  • I suspect they are probably having similar issues to Gumtree with scammers (or they are pre-empting them) and trying to put possible measure in place to deal with it?
