I have eczema - dermatitis - psoriasis ( take your pick it seems to depend on which doctor I see) for around 3 years now , just a large-ish patch on my leg, a tiny patch on my hand and on the soles of my feet patch, leg is defo the worst and at times I have scratched so much (usually in my sleep or when stressed) till I bleed and then get an infection!
Dr seems to think its stress related as it does get a lot worse at certain times, otherwise its more an annoyance.
I have had to have anti-biotics on top of steroid creams as I have clawed my leg so much, it never seems to go!
I have also spent god knows how much on wonder creams, natural remedies etc..
I have been researching the benefits of manuka but before I fork out another £20 or so.. any success stories of it helping? (with anything, not just skin issues)

Well, if it doesn't show some improvement at least the remainder of the jar will be nice on crumpets or scones.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

I've been a sufferer since my twenties, had all the creams/treatments so I feel for you.
I don't know what your job is but I now work in retail and up until a few years ago my face would swell up within a hour of work, looked awful. anyway maybe coincidence but I got fed up trying to open the carrier bags and made my own bag opening kit (coffee lid with wet cloth in - to dip finger in before opening bag) and my skin soon cleared - but it could have been anything else - like turning 50!!
I remember my optician talking about this wonderful stuff but can't afford it, so when I remember I just take a teaspoon of cheap stuff (lidl is really good) and it really helps with all sorts of things including a great big mouth lump thing the other week.
Best wishes to you.

supposed to be excellent on leg ulcers too. The higher the grade the better though, ie 20 + not 5 +0

There is good evidence that it works on wounds, burns and ulcers. I don't know about its use for eczema. Would you be eating it or putting it directly on the itchy patches? Won't that be rather messy?
I have seen creams made using manuka honey that would be easier to use.
If the GP thinks stress might be behind it, have you considered tackling it from that angle as well? Even just doing some meditation at home can bring about changes in the brain.0 -
If you buy it from Aldi it's £3.99 a jar (I think) and +10 grade - quite respectable and a lot cheaper than Holland and Barrett! I suffer with Sinusitins and now take it at the first sign of a cold - I've not needed antobiotics for ages! I also gave it to our beagle when she had extensive jaw surgery for a tumour - the vet commeneted on how quickly and cleanly she healed up at her post op check.
I'd certainly give it a go - hope it sorts you out!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Singer Katherine Jenkins swears by Manuka to help when she gets any throat infections, we use it for the same reason. However, have you looked at your condition from a dietary point of view? My first suggestion would be to eliminate wheat, flour, gluten etc from your diet. If it gets worse in times of stress, your consumption for food items that include these ingredients will generally increase - it might be linked?0
