Don't go to Santander that's for sure.

Seeing your other post, I understand that you are rather frustrated with Santander, and I think you probably deserve more compensation.

However, for every negative experience, there are dozens of positive ones. I myself had an ISA transfer (several tens of Ks) completed within 11 days in April this year. I also regularly deposit and withdraw large chunks of money (not from the ISA). They sometimes do checks on larger sums, and that can be annoying since it is time-consuming - - but I'd rather they do the occasional extra checks than find my money has gone missing.

To the OP: you will get whatever interest the provider gives you after maturity - - most probably it is a mediocre rate. You should find another ISA that allows transfers in and request a transfer (do not move the money yourself).

This is such a !!!!!! post. It adds no value and doesn't answer the OPs question.

I like millions of others have positive experiences with Santander - your one bad experience doesn't negate this.

I have had Santander ISAa with several thousands and have been happy.

    Quit the negativity campaign

I've never had a problem with them, in fact I was surprise how well they handle my ISA back in May. However Tesco on the other hand.... my point being all banks can be rubbish, it just depends on luck. IMO, Santander or no better or worse then any other bank in the UK

I have also had good transfer experiences with Santander, both last this month, and then again this month.

People only post about their negative experiences, but I reckon there are lots more who have had positive ones, but don't bother to mention it. I started a thread last month mentioning my positive experience with both Santander and Skipton, which also met with a negative comment.

Santander are probably no better or worse than any other bank - but their Major ISA is definitely worth considering, IMHO.

In my experience they were slow to respond to complaints and provide solutions to problems. So they are either cavalier towards people who are having problems, or they are snowed under with complaints. Also, this websites own research suggests that Santander have a poor reputation amongst its own customers.

As others I too have had no problems with Santander. This said, their reputation of customer service has improved. Other Banks are now getting a reputation of bad service.

Of course we can only go on our own experiences.

When Rory McIlroy recently won the USPGA tournament, Santander announced that over 600,000 of their customers became eligible for the 0.1% bonus of the Santander 2-year Major ISA. http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/Satellite?appID=abbey.internet.Abbeycom&c=Page&canal=CABBEYCOM&cid=1237917369606&empr=Abbeycom&leng=en_GB&pagename=Abbeycom%2FPage%2FWC_ACOM_TemplateW2

Whilst there have been a handful of people reporting specific problems on MSE with their Santander ISA, I reckon overall all is well with Santander ISAs since there are several hundred thousand other customers who appear to be quite happy. I am one of these happy ones and would definitely take out another Santander ISA if it offered me the best value I can find.

    Couldn't agree more.

My son is currently on secondment in Hongkong. I'm his unpaid, unregulated IFA :rotfl: so he opened the Major ISA before he left, (when it was 4%) :) As a home for his spare cash, I suggested he open the eSaver - not the absolute best rate but convenient & probably no extra ID requirements etc.

He used his online banking login from an old A&L account which he had never closed, and here is his email to me today:

"Very impressed, once again, with Santander – lovely Spanish people (!)

Opened account today, confirmed within the day, transferred £100 from Barclays – immediate credit to account, transferred massive 2p balance from old A&L account to new instant saver account. Robert est le frère de ton père.

    Muy bien.

Off for Indian again tonight :-D"

Please excuse his language skills (or lack thereof:p) but this says a lot about how Santander's systems have improved. I too have had no problems with them over many years and several different accounts. That's not to belittle others' negative experiences. Just trying to add a little balance :)
