none of us wants to see stuff go off to landfill, however i do object quite strongly to people who think freecycle is there way to get everything they "want" (not "need") and post ridiculous shopping lists.

    Just like today's fine example:

"hi i know its a long shot but does anybody have a widescreen tv that is
spare or needs fixing ,i had an lcd untill the dog got scared and flung
his head in to the screen. thanks for reading.."

I love the bit about having a 'spare' widescreen tv - not to mention the true life tale or shaggy dog story to accompany the request! :D

Maybe so, the poster may have misunderstood the request but could we be nice please?! There seem to be a bit of back biting appearing in this thread and it WILL get shut down if it deteriorates in the way I have seen threads deteriorate in the past. PLEASE don't start !!!!!ing.

It's only meant to be a bit of fun. I don't agree with everything people are posting here and actually think that some things appearing here are quite reasonable but each to his own. Just ignore it if you don't like it.

Difficult to see how {paraphrase} "we've dug up the grass because we want something else" can be misunderstood.
ONLY thing they DON'T want is grass seeds.

That doesn't give you the right to be rude. Calling someone stupid is unnecessary. Why not just say something along the lines of..."they dug the grass up so I think they probably want shrubs not more grass" if you had to comment at all? And you can lump me into the stupid category if you like, because I had to read the request a couple of times before I really understood it.

Will you be ignoring my polite request to be nice then?
