well what a palaver whilst i've been on my hols. a few newbies causing ructions i see. this thread is about the freecycle spirit of keeping things out of landfill, not getting everything you want for free. if people want to give it, they'll post an offered for goodness sake.

missed you all, gotta go again now, taken me ages to read this, will be back on monday fingers crossed,

not much on mine lately although we do seem to have a spate of furry friends related ones (wanteds and offereds so hopefully everyone's sorted :D )

However, this one especially made me smile - I love ferrets;) .

Well I have to say I disagree, if I want something I can't see anything wrong with asking for it, I try to give away as much as I get, but thats my own conscience.

I think many people won't bother to offer something, but if someone asks for it, it might jog their memory of something they have but will never use again. Or something they think no-one will want. I'm picking something up today that a lady has had rotting in her garden for a while and I'm pretty sure thought no-one would want. Yet offered it to me when I posted a wanted.

Anyway just my opinion, this is a discussion thread about freecycle right? Spirit of keeping things out of landfill..........

Tbh I think some of you need to get yourself down to a recycling centre and actually see what type of stuff is thrown away, thats over half the posts on here gone straight away.

My first 'gift' was in reply to a wanted for a rotary line/dryer. I hadn't even though of posting it as an offer.
I have made a few trips to the tip while clearing out my mum's house and sheds and yes it is bloody scary to see so much stuff that looks in good condition. furniture, tv's, white goods, can't all be beyond use or repair.
Offer it first, if no takers then dump is my policy.

Picked up some lovely little catmint plants this afternoon off a local freecycler. She'd bought a 99p packet of seeds and was amazed she'd ended up with almost 100 plants and nowhere to plant them all, so had given loads away to freecyclers instead of tipping them. Lovely lady!

been to the tip today oddly enough, and was disgusted to see what was being lobbed in the non-recycleable skip. card, paper, wood and allsorts people couldn't be bothered to seperate. plus one bloke came with a perfectly fabulous set of drawers which i took off him, which are better than any other set of drawers i own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are knobless, but thats easily remidied.

and having read beer2006 & juddermans post, i see what you mean about jogging peoples memories, so yeah, maybe some wanteds are ok. i hold my hand up i may have been a bit harsh.

some though aren't in my book
has anyone got any mobile phones lying around unwanted, with or without sims, i can collect

sounds like someone selling them on to me. which winds me up.
wanted, i am looking for the following

a white dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, and appox 120 square metres of white 8" square tiles to complete my new kitchen. can collect.

    hmmmmmmm bit cheeky.

on the upside have offered several things today, and got some lovely replies, and can't wait for the stuff to be gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
