Late payment after mortgage in principal

Hi,
Really worried and hope someone can advise. I got a mortgage in principal with Halifax yesterday and putting full application on Tuesday. Post has arrived today and have received an arrears letter from isme catalogue to tell me I have missed last months payment of 5.00!!
Have just rang up and cleared full balance of 50.00 , can't believe I missed this, the guy said it will by law have to appear on my credit file. He said its updated monthly, checked my credit report and it's due to update Tuesday
Does anyone know what affect this will have , I'm gutted

If everything else is fine, 1 late payment in the last 6 years shouldnt be too much of an issue.
The credit check has already been done if the full application has gone in. They still may do another but i think its unlikely - although i havnt really used halifax.

So do they just do credit check in mortgage in principal, I moved house 2 year ago and forgot to move a catalogue, I got a default then a credit agency found me and as soon as I found out I paid it, checked equifax and got good for my credit report but have a red default cos of the catalogue , it's dated 2010, I'm worried sick!

You should be ok. Halifax do the credit check at DIP stage and so thusly would already know about the default. They rate clients as A,b or C before giving a decision in princiPle.

    So you should be fine.

If its not, ask your broker to have a chat with Aldermore as they are more sympathic with regards to minor mishaps like the one you've described.

To avoid this happening again in the future and Potentially affecting your next mortgage get direct debits set up for all of your outgoings and arrange to pay off at least the minimum payment each month.

    Hope this settles your nerves!

    Good luck!
