Trying to escape the Rat Race

Its been quite a week. I feel quite drained.
I went for a visit to the hospice that I was thinking of applying to for a job. It went well and they suggested I apply for two posts they are advertising. The closing date is Monday. I suddenly realised how little time I had to get these applications and that these had to go by post . I've always applied online in the past so it was a mad rush to do the forms and get them posted. Adding to this I had to get ink for my printer as there were over 30 pages to print including copies of my CV. One the ink was in I discovered a fault with the printer, amazingly it did not get thrown out of the window but is sat in the spare room while I try and find a solution that enables me to fix it myself.
As a result of this I had to go to the library to print all this off which was not cheap and then post it all off special delivary to ensure it got there in time. No wonder I'm exhausted .
All of a sudden there seem to be lots of other jobs being advertised that I can apply for. I'm going to do this after the weekend. But it has all made me wonder if I will ever get out of the rat race, it certainly feels like its just a dream right now.
The weather has been mild so the heating is at a minimum. The cavity wall insulation is great , the heating has to go off by 7pm or the bedrooms are too hot for comfort. Another bonus is that Tesco have refunded me half the cost of a mattress I purchased last year. They had exchanged it when it was 8month old as it had become saggy and uncomfortable and I'm finding the current one lumpy in places. The manufacturer guarantee no longer stands but with the money they have refunded I can purchase a mattress topper to make it a bit better.
Hopefully the weather will stay mild for tommorows visit to the enchanted gardens, I'm really looking forward to it and borrowing a half decent camera to take some piccies.
Have a good weekend folksWhen it rains look for RainbowsWhen its Dark look for Stars0 -

Is been a heck of a week . Lots of work related things have upset me very much but I'm trying to use it as a kick up the rear to get moving on the job hunt. I've set up the dining table as the nerve centre of operation find a new job and am spending as much time as I can looking for jobs and preparing for potential interviews. In a way the job market has opened up as I'm now also looking at 1year fixed term contracts as well.
Last night I discovered a new programme on 4OD. George Clarkes Amazing Spaces, its about people creating unusual small space living areas and doing up old caravans , containers , buses etc and 'escaping the rat race'. I'd so love to do this and it started me trying to work out again how I could do this. So again I'm starting to look at my possesions and work out what I can do without. I feel more stuff about to go on ebay very soon...I have also decided as a result to sell the gold bangle that my daughter got estimates for me. The best was £70 which I didn't think was very much but if I was to upsticks and move into a cabin in a field then it would be a very unessacerry waste of space. Its also £70 off a card debt.
Speaking of cards I have today managed to transfer a small amount off my high interest card onto another 0% card. Its only £250 but it should make a difference. It certainly makes me feel more positive.
I've got a busy weekend lined up. I'm going into my old work base to see if I can locate some files I am missing. Its been a few months but its a very chaotic environment and people may just not have noticed the bag stuck under the desk. I hope I can find it as there is some very useful information in there for job hunting. I'm also off to visit my sister. Normally I take the train but its not a long journey , I just hate the motorway and I have a large item to get to her. Years ago my dad told me about a different route and I've looked it up , it seems quiet easy so she has been warned to expect us. I'll need to get some petrol first though !
Hope life is treating everyone well. Stay positive folks xWhen it rains look for RainbowsWhen its Dark look for Stars0 -

What a busy weekend. It was great to catch up with my sister and the drive was easy so no qualms about doing it again.
DD and I have been having a huge clear out of the loft. It has been piled high with stuff and there has been a problem with condensation up there so a fair bit has been ruined from not being stored properly. We've got a charity coming to collect about 8 bin liners of bric a brac later this week. It's been good to get some of the nice things out though that never should have been up there in the first place. I'm quite saddened about how much money I have spent at some point on this 'stuff' that is either going in the bin or to a charity shop. I've quite a few bits that may end up on eBay or being sold to Freinds shortly. I'm really keen to drastically declutter and I think some of these things deserve better owners than me and certainly don't deserve to be stuffed in cupboards.
I got a little over £70 for my bangle and have another £20 in PayPal from selling a pair of shoes on eBay. I also have £45 worth of bids on other items that I decided to sell on and I suspect this will be much higher by the end of the week. Normally I pay this money straight on a card debt but as work is very uncertain at the moment I've decided to set up an emergency fund at least for a few months while things settle down.
Today though has sorely challenged my finances. Our dog has been sickly for a few days and kindly puked over my duvet this morning. He became very lethargic and so was promptly whisked off to the vet. So with the vet bills and the bill for cleaning my duvet the card has been hammered. He seems to be okay thankfully but will be back there tomorrow to see of he needs an X-ray. Thank goodness I have always insured our pets !When it rains look for RainbowsWhen its Dark look for Stars0
