I've had a good week. DD has been away with Freinds and comes back later today. I always wondered what life would be like living on my own. It's certainly very cheap !
I've eaten pretty much out of the cupboards and freezer only buying in milk and bread. It's been mild so the heating has hardly been on and of course much less stress on the amount of water we use ( we are on a meter )
I spent a bit of time shuffling the cards a little and I think I will be able to close one of my high interest ones at the end of the month. I will also be able to make a small extra payment after selling an item on eBay.
My car insurance is up for renewal at the end of the month. My renewal quote is of course silly but it is from a premium company as it came free last year as part of the deal when I got the car. I have looked at the price comparison sites and I feel I should be able to get it elsewhere for at least half that and I will be going through Quidco too !
January is always a bad month money wise for most people but in the NHS its awful. It is a 6 week month for us as traditionally we have always received our pay before Xmas as opposed to the end of the month. I think it's a tradition many people would be glad to see the back of. As I am used to it it's not a massive deal for me. I tend to ignore the money in my account until my normal pay day so I'm not tempted to spend more. So at the moment I'm relatively confident that I won't be panicking at the end of the month. Watch this space
Well I need to get a move on. I'm on the late shift so setting off in an hour and I need to shower and make something for my tea.

Same in education - well for those of us who are paid at the end of the month - payroll think they are doing us a favour - no its so they are not there at end of month - i.e. between Christmas and NY - you can never get them on the phone then! You would have thought in this digital world it wouldnt matter. Makes me:mad: I always slide some into my ISA so I can get it if I need to - sometimes I dont and thats a bonus:) Have to say wasnt too bad this year - it will only be a 5 week month for us because term finished late in DecemberBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Wow what a month January was !
I got through with my bank balance in better shape than normal ! As a result though I have been able to see the places where I have been leaking money . Mostly my Daughter ! We have had words. But also buying food at work. I took in all my lunches in January and realised that makes a massive difference.
I have been accepted onto the Mutally Agreed Resignation scheme at work. (MARs). This means I leave my job by the end of March with a years salary but I will not be allowed to do any kind of work in the NHS for that year. Presently my plan is to find a job that I like for a year regardless of pay and then work out if I can afford to do this when my year is up or whether I return to the NHS. The lump sum will clear my debts with hopefully 15k left over. But for the first 6 month I'm hoping to stash this away until I'm clear on what I'm doing.
I feel quite optimistic and maybe a year away from Nursing is just what I need .
I've finally got my debt under 18k. (Full figures pending ). This is despite some hefty bills in January. This has been helped by managing to sell a few things on EBay for good prices. I bought a large cuddly My Little Pony at a boot sale for a pound intending to gift it to my Nephew who is a fan . My sister said no as thy are moving and I sold it for £15 ! I also sold some tickets I had been given for £70.
I've not had much time for competitions , surveys etc so I'm hoping to get on with these again soon. But I did receive a £3 postal order after making a complaint about a tin of meat and a freebie sachet of cat food with a cute metal fork.
Here's hoping for a Fabulous February for everyone:):)
