Translations of Signs. Lol.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2183023/Shanghai-says-winning-war-embarrassing-Chinglish-signs-plague-city-Brits-help-finding-funny.html

I find these signs really endearing, and just spent a few minutes dissolving in childish hysterics. :D It really does seem a shame to replace many of them.

It's quite easy extrapolate what they really mean, but I'm stuck on a couple:
"Wildlife is not food" - I agree with the sentiment, but what were they really trying to say?

And "F*** Vegetables" - again, I can't quite work out what they were actually trying to say.

thanks for the link, have seen some before and its hilarious as I can read Mandarin and can see how they've made the mistake :D

with regards to your questions, they literally meant to say not to eat wild life, ie, they should be protected and not poached for food.

as for the vegetables :rotfl: the same word for 'dry' or 'dehydrated' is used as a slang word for 'to f***' hence the very strange translation

Thank you so much. It makes sense now. :D

I'm quite taken with the signs, and would love for dry municipal signs to be lived up a bit like that!

Whilst in Switzerland, Mr. Conway and I came across a coach with a huge sign emblazonned on the side "WWW.ANK-TOURS.CH"

It was rejected from the Daily Telegraph's Travel Signs competition for being a bit too offensive!

I'm still giggling at the thought of a 'garden of curled poo'. I'm not sure I want to know what it should have been...
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!
