Does anyone have any ideas for a family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 children). Managed to get accommodation. Are there any cheap deals for travelling around, getting into the tourist attractions and the like?

As for travel, get travelcards from any London Transport Office (you might also want to google for "oystercard" which a the way travelcards can be stored electronically0 -
You might want to try London 2 for 1. You have to catch the train in though.

Everyone says it, but go for the open top bus tour, catch it outside Madame Tussauds... for adults its about £18 each, but it is valid for 48 hours I think... and you can literally use it to travel round london and reach all the major sites... forget the underground etc FAR too expensive...
Me and the GF went for 2 days in Feb and used this... was fantastic.0 -
If you want restaurants try https://www.fireandstone.com they do all sorts of pizzas and they are lovely. They also have lunchtime and evening meal deals.
Check out their website and definitely book in advance.
This restaurant is also in the heart of Covent Garden and you can also get a 10% discount card by applying on their website.
The galleries and museums in London are great and many are free.
Have fun

One of the joys of visiting London is that you can wonder around by many of the big tourist sites (Buck Palace, Parliament, South Bank, Covent Garden) without necessarily paying anything. The Museums (Science and Natural History always go down well with kids) galleries like Tate Britain, Tate Modern and the National Gallery are all free and many have very good kids activities as well.
The parks are also free, a trip to the Museums follwed by a wander through Kensington Gardens on a nice day would cost almost nothing. Hyde Park, Regents Park, St James all have different things to recommend them.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
London Eye is cheaper if you book it online.2p off is still 2p off!0

As has already been said, London can be very cheap, as so many of the attractions are free. So I will add a suggestion for a place you should visit; The Bank of England Museum (free). As a bonus, they currently have an exhibition called 'Security by Design' all about the security features designed for bank notes. Its not a big museum so you can visit it in the course of sightseeing around the City Of London.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0
