Car auction buyers fee costs

Looking for a car at some of the larger auction centres recently and the thing that stuck me was the cost of the buyers fees e.g. £1000.00 car add £255.00 fee, £3000.00 car add £332.00 fee.
So just something people need to be aware of as that auction bargain can turn out to be quite expensive when fees are added.

I go to an IT auction where they charge 20% commission and then VAT on the whole lot meaning a £100 hammer price becomes £144. The number of people who bid to the point where you can go into PC World and buy a new one for less is mad. Countless times I'd be stood behind them at the counter to pay and they'd say they'd not realised and not got enough money.0
