Sending laptop to Latvia from US Buyer?

Hi guys. I'm selling an Alienware laptop on Ebay with a high BIN price (over £1000) and a potential buyer from the US wants to the laptop for someone in Latvia. I've checked sending by insured courier and the cost is £35 (with UPS).

The buyer in question has 100% feedback for 150 items which is encouraging but I'm a little wary. Also, I doubt the rest of the warranty the laptop has will be valid in Latvia.

What does anyone think about this? If he buys, could I add a disclaimer perhaps? Apologies for my lack of ebay knowhow but I need a little assistance as I've never sent anything abroad during my years on Ebay. Thanks for any and all help. ;)

Firstly check out the postage thread re addresses and seller protection. You cannot put a disclaimer on an auction as buyers have legal rights regardless of what a seller puts.

Disclaimers attract scammers. Is the buyers ebay/paypal address in Latvia?
As do new sellers. Scammers hope you dont know how it works and the simple scams.

US buyer buys it and says send to Latvia. After a while he claims item has not been received he wants a refund.
You prove postage to latvia, He says i dont live in Latvia. Ebay/Paypal refund him and you lose one laptop and have to pay fees also.

    Thanks for the replies.

What if I make it a condition I will only sell if his Paypal account includes the address in Latvia, so if he comes back to me with laptop not received I've got proof that it was sent to the address stated in his Paypal account.

The buyer in question can't currently buy it since I only sell to UK buyers with an address located in the UK (this can be revised obviously), but it is an odd one, especially as it appears the buyer is genuine, but I guess it only takes one item to change that.

Most likely somebody in Latvia has gotten the details of an eBay and Pay Pal account of somebody in the US and is trying to use it to order your laptop. Person in Latvia gets a laptop for free, person in US gets their stolen money back and you're left out of pocket.

I wouldn't post it until I had the cash.
They can pay me via WU, Postal order or cash, regardless of the T&Cs, or I would cancel the order.

    A neg isn't worth a £1000 laptop over IMHO
