Hi can anyone help please.
My L/H mouse click has stopped working on this little netbook if mine, I've swapped to right click for now but need to find out how to make the left one work again?
Everything else is great.
It's a Samsung N145 plus.

First thing to try is another OS (a bootable Linux distro?) and see if the mouse click works under that. If not, it's likely to be a hardware fault. Maybe you can replace the microswitch or have it repaired. Otherwise, it's a software problem.0

Hi esuhl, thank you. It looks like it is the switch, if I press really hard it works so I'll have a look inside tomorrowI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Hopefully just a bit of dust/gunk, then. One of the keys on my netbook suffered this problem, and just before I gave in and took it apart, it suddenly fixed itself!
Maybe a gentle wiggle of the button, or a blast of compressed air, or carefully sliding the corner of a piece of paper under the button would dislodge the dust would help...?0 -
I was going to suggest plugging in a mouse, but I see you've diagnosed it as the button.
Sometimes flicking a button can dislodge dirt (but other times it might damage it!).0 -
I have a similar issue on my Samsung laptop, I suspect the components they use for the trackpad/clicker aren't too great. I get around it by tapping the trackpad itself to click rather than using the physical button below0
-
Thanks I never knew I could tap the trackpad.
Just wondering if it's possible to lift the switch cover from the top with a very thin blade as you would with the normal keys...
ETA; Yes you can. So I see now it's not a little microswitch, it's aP/T switch so shouldn't be too hard too find one at Maplins or somewhere like.
What a mess of fluff and dog hairs though, I got it all off with a toothbrush (not one of ours)
Just ordered a new switch from Ebay. I couldn't just order one though, had to order 10 - for a massive £1.32I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

(And not a Mickey pinup in sight!)0 -
Solution 1 - can of compressed air, direct a blast of air in/around the gap between mouse button and case.
Solution 2 - can of switch cleaner, Servisol or the like - again, blast some under the mouse button
Perhaps lift the edge of the button slightly with a fingernail or similar.....
Both products available from Maplin or the like.....0
