    hi QPR

nice to find another genealogy researcher on threads
    i'm throughly addicted

have you been doing your for long? how far back have you managed to get.

Yep for a long long time, & although its supposed to be becoming more popular I'm still normally the youngest at meetings.

Sadly there are gaps in the Parish Registers so after a certain time its speculation on my dads side for our surname, I have done all my lines as far back as I can but keep checking for new records to become available.

I have english, (in every direction)welsh & irish no scottish yet & the feint rumour of my little finger being Portuguese way way back.

    How about you ?

Evening all, Not having a very good day today
A junior doctor came to see OH this morning and sent him for an ultrasound on his leg, the lady who did the ultrasound is someone whose treated him before and went and got the "Top Dog" consultant out of clinic to see him. Outcome is she's cancelled all clinic tomorrow morning and taking OH to theatre to amputate, don't know how far up they're going yet.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that it's the news you were dreading, Bootsalebargains. I am thinking of you, your dear OH and family and can only say I hope it all goes well and he doesn't have any further need of surgery :(:(

Was it today you are due back off holiday with your DD?

I understand that you want to do it yourself feel free to contact me if you are stuck though, I am unshockable when it comes to Family Trees, mine is quite boring but doing other peoples has been an eye opener over the years.

The program i had in mind doesnt work on Mac but they have one on there for Macs re Ancestry it is available for free in many libraries etc its only worth the subscription if you want to stay up into the small hours looking things up & was mentioned earlier ALWAYS check out for yourself any trees you find already done, my dads grandad died in London because my Mum & Dad found him & someone had him in a tree as dying in America !

Need to clear my pm box & I will send you the link & also to the person that pmd me, with one landline still not working & this one just hanging by a thread I'm a bit limited as to what I can do Internet wise at the moment. i feel like I'm using two tins cans & a piece of string :(

Thanks QPR. Much appreciated. And I will ask for help if and when I need it. I think this might get a bit complicated.

    We are B.T.

BT wouldn't know a fault if it hit them in the face. We lost our phone line and Internet. Phoned them up to report the fault and they carried out a line test and said everything was perfect. Funny that because the cable was snapped in two at the top of the lane! 16 days without Internet before it was fixed.
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

You must be so worried but at least they have moved quickly.

Have to say, I could not agree more. The amount of times our customers have reported faults to BT and been told the line is OK. We have gone out and found the noise or other problem is on the line, sometimes we have gone out and found the line is totally dead at the test point! My OH was helping one chap that had a problem for nearly a year, kept getting BT out and they could not find the fault - could not be in the house because there was no other wiring. My OH went out and tested it and told BT what the problem was, they would not believe him. Managed to work it so that he was in the house at the same time as BT (customer almost had to tie BT engineer down :rotfl:), told him exactly what the problem was and proved it to him, BT engineer went down local exchange and found he was right and the problem was fixed! :)

Don't want BT to improve though, about 30% of our business comes from clearing up their mess!!!

(Sorry about the multiple exclamation marks but sometimes they are warranted)
