Don't despair! Think about what she enjoys and is good at. Some people do well at academic things and others don't. A good friend of mine is a cleaner, I am an academic- and I don't think she is any less important or any less happy (or well off!) than I am. Personally I think it is about doing the best that you can with what you are good at and what you love. Ask DD to consider a path that would help her develop into the best whatever (fill in the blank) that she can be. The world wouldn't be anything without the people who build, and cook, and clean, and doctor and music and art and and and... all the colours of the rainbow

That sounds like me:oAges ago their was one where you had to lick cream off a mans face(Or something like that:rotfl:) and I had to get DS to do it for me:rotfl::rotfl:

Re the East/West thing...

For West I just look in the general direction of which way the sun sets, and for east, vice versa

Those of you with i-phones will have a compass on your phone too
