So does the furniture have to be brand new and shiny and perfect?

I am just thinking if mony is tight then maybe you have a local freecycle group which might have some of the smaller things you need like chest of drawers, dining table sets, lamps, fans, coffee tables, computer desks even good enough sofas that would be fine for the time being.

Also see if there are any charity furniture exchanges or warehouses nearby. Everything they sell is very good quality and not over priced.

You then have more money to spend on esential things that you cant scrimp on like a good bed and mattress.
