can i ask a dumb question, i have only just learnt to sell on ebay and complete newbie to the selling side

I have emptied the loft as we are getting it boarded up and need to clear loads of junk

Listed a few items on free listing weekend but was only allowed 10 items then :(

now they've upped my allowance i'm a bit confused as to what sort of starting price to put things on for

can you ebay veterans advise pretty pls?

am i likely to get more interest if i put the initial bid for 99p? obviously risk of selling at 99p then if no-one is interested

with large items that are for collection only obviously no P&P to bump up the price:p

    help!

How did you get your selling allowances raised? I can currently only sell 10 items a month for up to an amount of £640!!

I want to sell more items but still won't reach that amount

It's a gamble but I'm a great believer in starting at 99p;)Experience has taught me its the way to go. Also with Buy it Now you get into the Distance Selling regs where people can return things to you if they change their mind, but with auctions they can't;) Totally up to you but I'd do the 99p route:)

I agree 99p start price is the way to go. You attack more interest and people will pay what there willing to pay for an item. You do get the ones that bid 99p thinking there going to get it at this price, but that just kick starts the auction. Quite a lot of the time I've got way more than I expected for an item selling it this way. I sold a Xbox controller which was £15 new to buy. It fetched £33 and it was used :D couldn't believe my eyes at the final price :T

Just opened one of the boxes of Cheerios in my stash from the petrol promo for baby boo (who was trying to get the box of chocolate Cheerios out of the bin) and the inside packet was already open

I had that with coco pops , my son told me after they had eaten them all moaning that they were chewy

I too tend to put things on for 99p....unless its a more expensive item. It's all trial and error really and you learn from the mistakes you make along the way. Sometimes you get disappointed and other times you get gob smacked at what people will pay for things.

I agree about the scales. I got stung a couple of times when I first did it, charging too little postage. I weigh things before I list and work out postage. There is a handy chart on Royal Mail website that you can print out.

Good luck with however you decide to do it and I hope you make loads of money:)
