i went to the post office today as to pick up a letter today as the sender had underpaid by 9p. I was charged a pound handling fee. are the post office for real?? no wonder they are losing money.
when they upset their customers do they not undestand that this costs them more than 9p.
i just wanted to tell people how petty they are and to watch out when sending letters as the post office are carp

:) It's not the Post Office - it's Royal Mail that charge the handling fee

    the 9p - was there a 1st class stamp (60p) on it?
If so then the letter was too big or wide for ordinary 1st (they get sorted through a machine & any that get stuck are then yellow stickered fines) it was then changed to Large letter 2nd at 69p :)
You need to take this up with whoever sent it as under paid postage

Had the same this week and as I am housebound at the moment had to pay it online.

Turned out to be a birthday card from my cousin from two weeks ago. What p&$$es me off is you dont know what it is thats underpaid - it could be junk mail or something you're not expecting...

i did know because they had posted it to rosie and not my official non mse name.

the package was worth much more than a pound. and i am so grateful to the lovely sender. it's the post office who should be ashamed.

there was a queue of frustrated people in the post office and they were laughing when i told them what i thought of the post office and their petty charge.:rotfl::rotfl:

i won't be doing that this person is a star and had no idea that the letter was a wee bit too big. i just hate pettyness. i work in a business and this penny pinching rather than reducing costs. peeing customers off is not saving money.
